Bonfire Night Safety Advice 🎆 |
As Bonfire Night approaches, Staffordshire Police would like to remind residents to celebrate safely and responsibly. Whether you're attending an organised display or celebrating at home, please follow these simple safety tips:
🔥 Attend organised firework displays where possible. These events are professionally managed and provide a safer environment for everyone. 🔥 If using fireworks at home, ensure they are purchased from a reputable retailer and always follow the manufacturer's instructions. 🔥 Never allow young children to handle or light fireworks. Sparklers should be supervised at all times and handled with care. 🔥 Keep pets indoors where possible and ensure they have a safe, quiet space, as fireworks can cause distress to animals. 🔥 Be mindful of neighbours, particularly those with young children, elderly relatives, or pets. Consider the timing of any celebrations and avoid setting off fireworks late at night. 🔥 Never throw fireworks, aim them at people, vehicles, or property, or use them under the influence of alcohol or drugs. 🔥 Ensure bonfires are built away from buildings, fences, trees, and overhead cables. Check bonfires thoroughly before lighting, as animals such as hedgehogs may seek shelter inside.
🚔 If you witness anti-social behaviour involving fireworks, deliberate damage, or activity putting people at risk, please report it via 101 or online. In an emergency where there is an immediate threat to life or property, call 999. Let's work together to ensure everyone can enjoy Bonfire Night safely and respectfully. Thank you for helping to keep our community safe.
