#CrimePrevention | We've seen a number of reports across Staffordshire involving vehicles being targeted by thieves.
In many cases, offenders are looking for easy opportunities, so taking a few simple precautions can make all the difference.
Help protect your vehicle by:
✅ Always locking your vehicle, even if leaving it for just a few moments. ✅ Removing valuables from sight, including bags, wallets, tools and electronic devices. ✅ Never leaving keys inside the vehicle or near doors and windows at home. ✅ Using steering wheel locks or other visible security devices. ✅ Parking in well-lit areas or secure locations whenever possible. ✅ Checking your vehicle is actually locked, particularly if it uses keyless entry.
📶 Keyless Vehicle Owners Criminals can use technology to target keyless vehicles. Store keys away from doors and windows and consider using a signal-blocking pouch (Faraday pouch) when not in use.
🚐 Van Owners Tools left in vans remain a popular target. Remove tools overnight where possible and consider additional locks, alarms or tracking devices.
If you see suspicious activity around vehicles in your area, report it to us via 101, online, or call 999 if a crime is in progress.
By working together and taking a few simple steps, we can help reduce vehicle crime and keep our communities safe.
